The "Seal" of Messianic JudaismIn January 2010, I (Natasha, one of the Founding Directors of Shoresh'im Ministries) began my Masters Degree course in Messianic Judaism.

Please ask your own questions as we endeavour to journey together, and learn together.

Here’s an overview of my first semester’s content on “Messianic Jewish Theology”:

  1. What is Messianic Judaism? Past, present and future of Messianic Judaism
  2. What is Messianic Jewish Theology? Problems, methods and proposals
  3. The Doctrine of God in MJT
  4. Yeshua the Messiah
  5. Torah in Theory
  6. Torah in Practice
  7. Eschatology and the Future of Israel
  8. Messianic Jewish Identity
  9. The Mission of Israel and Mission to Israel
  10. The Future of MJT

In the beginning...

So, how did I come to be on this Masters Degree course? Well, it all started on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) in September 2009. Andy and I fasted and prayed together at home - it was so special, and God spoke very clearly.

I was praying that God would open doors with Shoresh'im, and grant us the desires of our hearts. Some of you may know for a while that we have felt I should maybe give up teaching and start researching for Shoresh'im (Andy shared this in a Shoresh'im meeting in May/June of 2009). However, I was still struggling with the clear call God gave me to teach in the School I was in, so I felt I had to wait until He showed me the open door and the way ahead.

I wasn't even praying about this, however, on the day of Atonement, but was simply praying that God would open doors with Shoresh'im. What followed was an amazing experience and God's clear direction for the next step of our journey with Him.

I have always wanted to study again, preferably a Masters degree, and explored various options over the years. I finally buried the idea a couple of years ago as the only courses I was interested in demanded a high level of fluency / understanding in Biblical Hebrew. However, with this new course God has resurrected my dreams again, and in such an incredible way!

Revelation on Yom Kippur...

God showed me clearly on Yom Kippur that I needed to go on the web (I wasn't really sure why at the time) and there it was - a Masters in Theology in what of all things? Messianic Judaism! This is the first course of its type ever to run in the UK! Needless to say, I was overwhelmed with excitement.

We looked into the course content more closely, and we could see it was SO right for me to do, and supports all that we are and all that we do at Shoresh'im.

It's all gone on from there, and this is where you can follow my progress including nuggets of useful information, comments about books read, thoughts provoked and challenges overcome. You can also interact with me via the message boards at the bottom of each new post page, and become a part of the experience yourself.

I hope you enjoy the journey with me - it’ll be hard work, but worth all the effort and sacrifice along the way.

Shalom to you all,

Natasha
